This is a special tour for people that interested in the history of Hawaiian culture. The tour was designed to touch on the main points of the evolution of Hawaiian history and culture from the very ancient time period up until the demise of the Monarchy. Step and in time and learn something more in depth about the amazing history and evolution of this great nation and peoples of Hawaii. As with everything in Hawaii, you will always be in awe of the spectacular beauty that surrounds you while you are on this tour visiting 5 of the most important sites to getting a basis and overview of the spectacular and unique history of this island and its people. • First stop of the day is the Puako Petroglyph Park. Walk around this very ancient historical site and discover many different types of ancient petroglyphs. Carved directly into the lava rock, witness the actual birth of Hawaiian civilization here looking at the rock carvings of humans, animals, and symbols. • Walk in the footsteps of Hawaii’s greatest king who united the islands King Kamehameha the Great while visiting Pu'ukohola Heiau temple and museum. Kamehameha the Great was advised by his kāhuna (priest) to build and dedicate Puʻukoholā Heiau to the war god Kūkāʻilimoku to help in his efforts to unite the Hawaiian Islands. The fortress-like heiau was constructed overlooking the Kohala Coast between 1790 and 1791. King Kamehameha ultimately fulfilled the kāhuna’s prophecy when he united the Hawaiian Islands in 1810. A must see while in Hawaii, the masterpiece of ancient Hawaiian temple architecture. • Next, we will go to visit Lapakahi State Park and see the remains of an ancient Hawaiian coastal settlement, a chance to see how did people really live without the convenience of modern technology. • We will then take a drive along the coast to see the reconstruction of the palace of King Kamehaha. • Finish the day at the famous Hulihe'e Palace, home to many of Hawaii's royal family. See many artifacts and examples of furniture, royal portraits, ancient weapons of war, kapa clothing, feather work jewelry, quilting. Originally built out of lava rock during the Kingdom of Hawaii, and home to more members of Hawaiian royal family than any other residence in Hawaii.
